Libby Schaaf, The mayor of Oakland, California, announced a “guaranteed income” program that will be privately funded. The privately funded program will give low-income families of color $500 a month in assistance. The Oakland Resilient Families program has raised $6.75 million of private donations, including partnering with the CEO of Family Independence Initiative.
The program’s eligibility requirements include having at least one child under the age of 18 and making less than half the area median income. Oh, and this, It is the very first – because you know California always has to be the wokest of all the woke states – program to restrict participation based on race.
If you meet all the requirements but have the unfortunate luck of being born white and poor in California, don’t bother applying. Your kind isn’t welcome there.
Californians see this as a progressive step forward while the rest of the country sees this for what it is – racism. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf told the AP, “We have designed this demonstration project to add to the body of evidence and to begin this relentless campaign to adopt a guaranteed income federally.”
Other guaranteed income programs have launched before The Oakland Resilient Families program; however, this is the first that excludes due to race. Jesús Gerena told the AP, “Guaranteed income has been a goal of the Blank Panther platform since its founding. Direct investment in the community in response to systemic injustices isn’t new.”

From the AP:
“The reason: White households in Oakland on average make about three times as much annually than black households, according to the Oakland Equity Index. It’s also a nod to the legacy of the Black Panther Party, the political movement that was founded in Oakland in the 1960s.”
This set off a Reddit firestorm and the Daily Mail reports that many users called the program’s actions to exclude the poor white residents “pure racism.” As one commentator brilliantly explains the cities inability to understand the complex changing demographics of Oakland, saying, “The high-income earners in Oakland are mostly young transplants that did not grow up in Oakland. They should have done research on upward social mobility in Oakland and restricted based upon that. But I guess that’s too much work.”
Another commented on the issue that “poor” doesn’t see race: “Poor is poor. Being poor and white sucks, you may not get locked up for trivial shit like our dark-skinned brothers and sisters, but it’s no secret that White Privilege always has and always will require a certain shade of green to your name.”
There is a lot of anti-white racism happening in America right now. And not the pathetic –you were mean to me, and I’m white, so you must be a racist – narrative that the left is obsessed with using for people of color. No. This is real segregation –my race is better than your race – type of racism.
Someone should offer free legal assistance to sue the city of Oakland for racial discrimination. Could you imagine if the privately funded public program excluded Black Americans? Don Lemon might fall right out of his idiotic turtleneck.
