If the death of conservative radio legend Rush Limbaugh proved anything, it revealed just how cold and heartless that Democrats — the party of “love, compassion and tolerance” — truly are.
While celebrities and other high-profile liberals used social media platforms to spew unimaginable hate toward Limbaugh and his family after he passed away last week, a Florida Democrat decided to take her extreme hatred to a new level by refusing an order directly from Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
According to Newsmax, Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried made crystal clear on Monday that she will not be lowering the flags on buildings in her charge to pay tribute to the late radio host.
“Lowering to half-staff the flag of the United States of America is a sacred honor that pays respect to fallen heroes and patriots. It is not a partisan political tool,” Fried said about her decision.
But there was much more to her decision than that. She then doubled down and revealed the true reason why she’s refusing to pay respects by lowering the flags.
“Therefore, I will notify all state offices under my direction to disregard the governor’s forthcoming order to lower flags for Mr. Limbaugh – because we will not celebrate hate speech, bigotry, and division. Lowering the flag should always reflect unity, not division, and raising our standards, not lowering them. Our flags will remain flying high to celebrate the American values of diversity, inclusion, and respect for all.”
In other words, since Limbaugh has a different political ideology than Fried, she immediately classifies the late radio host as someone who uses hate speech and bigotry? Gosh, how tolerant is that?
.@GovRonDeSantis is lowering Florida’s flags to half-staff for Rush Limbaugh.
But he had no words for Congressman John Lewis.

As you can see in the above tweet from Fried’s account, she blasted DeSantis for not issuing the same order for the late Rep. John Lewis in an obvious attempt to play that dirty, but effective race card. However, Fried must have missed at least part of the point why DeSantis is honoring Rush, as he was a resident of Florida. Rep. Lewis was not — he was from Alabama.
So, nice try Ms. Fried, but what a stupid comparison, to say the least.
Fried wasn’t the only low-level Florida politician to buck the governor’s orders, as according to WFLA, St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman will also refuse to lower the flags in his city. He issued a similar statement to Fried’s, in what appears to be a clear attempt at staying relevant as a virtually unknown, small-city mayor.
“Not lowering flags for Rush. In St. Pete we don’t honor hatred, racism, bigotry, homophobia, or anything else he has spewed over the years,” Kriseman tweeted to his 22,000 Twitter followers.
